R-values Better Than The Building Code

  • You cannot replace your slab.  Build it right the first time. A fully insulated concrete slab is a cost effective upgrade for long-term comfort and savings.  Your MAXRaft slab will last for the life of the building for less than 1% increase on the build cost.

  • Simply adding edge insulation improves the wall insulated performance by up to 30-40%.  This is because the edge insulation prevents heat loss under the edge of the bottom plate.

  • A fully insulated slab will keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer.  Once built that beneft is free and forever!

  • MAXEdge perimeter insulation will prevent 80% heat loss at the edge of the slab meaning your power bills will be cheaper!

We have insulated slabs suited to most ground conditions throughout New Zealand. 

What R-value will my slab achieve?

Thermal modelling showcases the MAXRaft product range and their associated R-values based on the area/perimeter ratio of the building.  This was required as a part of the building code changes in 2022.  You can learn more about these changes by watching our video update.

The above table shows R-values for 90mm frame.  140mm frame R-values will be higher.

The R-value table is not an exhaustive list of all our products. Want an even higher R-value than is listed above? Contact us for more information. 

For houses with brick cladding the above table reflects a brick rebate.  An alternative detail for brick cladding with no rebate can be used.

The Thermal Modelling does not allow for penetrations through the underneath of the slab other than plumbing/drainage. Contact our team to discuss specific R-value calculations if required.
